Awe! You need a side by side shot so everyone can see the huge size difference between the two!

From my ID books... looks like it may have a small chance at being a doliatus. It's hard to say by that picture, can you see any 'dots'? or are they all lines? (markings)

Delphinus 12-06-2007 08:16 PM

I don't really see any dots... But my other guy, who's definitely a virgatus, started off with lines like that too. I was sort of expecting the lines to be more prominent on a doliatus. But I guess at 1.5" long this guy has a ways to go before growing up so in time it could become more obvious what he/she really is.

I did try a few pictures with the two together in the shot, but alas, they didn't turn out. I'll try again...

Cruising through older posts, came across this from Albert's tank:

Sigh.... I dunno, looking at the two pictures side by side, the faint blue lines that I see in mine, don't seem to match up to those on Albert's friend's fish. I'd be pleasantly surprised to find out I'm wrong and this is a doliatus after all, but ... at this point I think I'd be surprised. I don't know how many virgatus's I've seen in the last 18 months and not a single doliatus. What's up with that anyhow?

I thought I would post pics of my rabbit here instead of the
other thread Tony.

You have doliatus !! Very nice. :) :) :)

I've been looking for one like that for sooooooooo long. :( August 2006 was when I got the inkling. I haven't seen one for sale yet at any LFS I visit (I have standing requests for them to check their lists too), as well as J&L and OA but I personally I kind of doubt the mail-order guys really remember to do so..

How long have you had him, and how big is he?

I can't get enough of looking at this fish, they're easily my favourite rabbitfish. Thanks for the pictures!

The fish is almost 2 and about 6 inches long. He will eat out of my hand when I have the nerve to do so.
