I have read a lot of this before already and I have a bottle of Melafix on hand that I use for bacterial infections on quarantined fish. Most of the information I can find seems anecdotal. Kind of like using hydroxychloroquine to treat Coronavirus. Having studied pest control in college antibiotics to treat multiple different pests in our aquarium seems a bit of a stretch.

It appears from what I have read that there is some merit to it. I think that in combination with the Bayer would be a great treatment protocol. The antibacterial properties of Melafix may help control any unwanted bacterial infections on corals that we are not even aware of.

I have had great success with Bayer removing all active stages of both AEFW and black bug to date. The one major issue with Bayer is as noted that it is not translucent making identification of the casualties challenging.

Anyone care to sell some of their Bayer insecticide locally? I'm out of Vancouver and will to pay $20 for a 1/3 bottle or so.

PS - I hear potassium iodide at ~3 g / L can do wonders for dipping corals. Anyone out there use this approach?

The price is high likely because they had to apply to Health Canada for a special use pesticide license or they are just taking the risk selling it illegally.
