It's an option. A bit more maintenance than a Ca reactor. Less initial cost. Harder to find bulk (affordable) kalk. Retail stuff is expensive.

I've used both, the reactor is a lot more set and forget.

kalkwasser from J&L is pretty good price.

However I don't know how much you will need per month if it's your only source of dosing.

As my primary dosing is done with calcium reactor, and Kalk reactor is only to top up the extra bit of calcium and keep the pH up.
