Depends on how big your tank is, they will grow quite the size after awhile, I have a green one and it has been expanding from time to time, my clowns never host on these carpets for some reason. you also want to watch out for the other fish as these carpets are very sticky once they touch it, mine ate alot things around the tank (crabs, small lobster, smaller fishes)
I have tried to get rid of mine but it sticks into the sand very deep, makes it nearly impossible to move out. when mine opens up fully, its around 14" diameter, so might want to watch out if its taking too much space in your tank. |
So far it's a good size, looks like this this morning not aure if this is it trying to close itself but in the folds ic dan can kinda see the mouth still open I think. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/01/07/py6ejume.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/01/07/qanehu5u.jpg

It's perfectly normal for it to fold up that way. It's one of the reasons a nickname for it is a saddleback anemone. Don't worry too much about it, as long as your tank is in good condition it will find where it wants to be. It is pretty much a centerpiece for your aquarium so expect to have to adjust and build around it vs. forcing it to be where you want.

Iike the way it looks all folded into the rocks, would just like to see it's mouth more
|
As it gets settled it should relax more and lay out more flat.
|
I figured it would need 2-3 days before it even tried to move!

So trying to get my clowns to host this anemone and I figured why not try the picture trick? So Iv put 3 pictures on my tank 2 of them a green carpet and one is a white carpet. I can't find any pics of clowns in a hadoni well not many. So what I'm wondering is does anyone have any? Would appreciate it.

In the wild, carpet anemones are hosts to Perculas but since majority of Percula clowns this days are aquacultured, they rarely go to carpets for their natural symbiotic relationship.
|
Actually not quite. Perculas and ocellaris will naturally host in gigantea and mertensii carpets but not haddoni.
In captivity all bets are off. Especially with captive bred clownfish. More than likely they will eventually discover the carpet. It could take them a while. In actual fact it's probably a good thing it is going slowly, if they go into it too soon without the slime coat ready the carpet can eat them. Haddoni's are very sticky and robust eaters. My first ocellaris pair took something like 2 months to discover their anemone... |
Yea basically from my journey what I have found out is any clown will jump right into it's natural host I.e. Occilaris into gigantica and cinnamon into bubbletips. I got a set of clarkii's (tank bred) in trade of my occilaris and plopped them in the tank. Went for dinner (8:00 left 11:00 home) when we left they went and hid under a rock. Now that I'm home and the lights are off they are both sleeping in it! Almost instantly. So if you want a forsure host. Get the natural match
