Cool wood bending skills on the frame. Did you make the Santa aswell?
|
Wow, nice!
Is the wood bent or cut/routed into the curve? Man, I ought to get me a router some day. |
The curve was cut out of a 2 x 8. using a jigsaw, the jig, and a router.
Kari...My father in law made the santa and snowman. |
Hey that looks familiar...

Yah...good luck with the doors....  |
Looking good, sure a lot of work when it comes to building bowfront canpies, That is some quality workmanship.
I had them made out of acrylic not so long ago for a 72 gallon bowfront. Since my acrylic skills were not good I had a friend build it for me. I helped him mark and cut the pieces. Came out alright, unfortunately pictures are bigger than 200K cannot post them here. Venki |

The plan for the doors is pretty simple. Hopefully it works out.
I have a third curved piece that I milled identical to the top and bottom curve rails. I plan to mark the centre of the rail and cut it in half. This will then form the inside brace for the door. I'll then use milled 1 x 3 s to form the actual doors. Basically, I am copying the design of the AGA stand. The back pannels will be removable and will have exhause fans monted in them. Teh top panel I am thinking of making aluminum and vented for heat disipation. The other idea I had was to build a dual plastic screen top so hot air could easily escape but the light would be diffused through two layers of screen. Obviously I've still got some work to do! |
Here is the frame wired and the lights in place (except for the T5 bulb at the back)

Looking sharp!
