Cites

I have confirmed this with ORA just a few moments ago.

The can and have shipped all their fish up here in Canada, I have actually talked to some of the companies that they gave me for references.

The only things they cannont do at this moment is some corals and items such as SeaHorses as they require CITES.

The last thing I would want is to have everything confiscated by the government like a few years ago when PJ's Pets carried thoes 'Special' glow in the dark tetras. I was actually in the store (I know, I am embarassed to admit it) when they put up the quarenteen and not for sale signs.

I was never one to go in for the colored fish that glowed, i seen many in my fresh water days, but i suppose that is the same as died corals for the reefer.
They eventually die or get sick.

As much as i like the looks of the new breeds of clownfish eg. Picaso clowns and those type for reefing, I still kinda feel wrong about buying a genetically enhanced fish.

Corals tho i think those should be as bright and enhanced as you can get them, even tho they are still an animal.

Good luck with this and now I have another reason to come visit your store or at least read about the bust of another coral dealer in canada.

Peace friend.

I think it's better to buy fish that are captive bred no matter how it's done compared to robbing them from the wild. Although I'm not sure they do a lot of genetic enhancement, genetic morphs are natural occurrences, just like albino various. I don't think breading these morphs qualifies as genetic enhancement, nor is it immoral behavior.

ORA seems like an excellent company with good intentions, their motto seems to be more related to producing fish with the same vibrant colors as those found in the wild, not exceeding them. I simply have a hard time seeing anything wrong with such a company when compared to other practices in this hobby.

Kudos to BWA for bringing these fish in, hopefully there is a market for them. Our LFS brought these in a few times but unfortunately it appeared that most hobbyists had a hard time justifying the extra costs. However Edmonton is more advanced in the hobby and I think the results should be better.

ORA fish are line bred, not genetically enhanced or modified. They're no more genetically modified than a german sheppard.

Good to know ReefConcept will have some competition on the ORA releases - will your prices be better than theirs?

Also, will you be shipping Canada wide?

I can guarentee that our prices will only increase if the costs of the inventory is higher, either than that we will strive to keep prices respectible.

As for canada wide shipping there hasn't been much thought about it, but that is definately a possibility.

Yes please, Canada wide shipping. I so have a list of ORA stuff I would like. LOL.

I am just hoping you will be able to get in some of their nice SPS corals.

So far whom what I am told. The cannot ship seahorses clams, & hard corals, due to CITIES. Doesn't mean in the future they can't though.

All fishes on their site, and soft corals are acceptible.

I worked out a decent rate to ship them here on Air Canada that won't cost me an arm & leg.
