Yeah, the tank will probably be bare bottom.

I'd go with a hang-on closed loop with one center inlet and two corner returns running on a mag3.
I'm running a similar setup using a mag5 on my 15g with the addition of a scwd. It's absolutely perfect! It looks really clean, has just the right amount of flow and most importantly on a nano there are no powerheads in the tank adding heat. E. |
Evan I know we discussed the Mag3 but this way I wouldn't have to buy anything... however, the heat thing is a good point. I might go with the closed loop for that reason.

You can do closed loops with MaxiJets too.

What kind of piping would you use with the MJ1200? I expect you'd use PVC with the Mag3.

Flex tubing is easiest.

What's in the 10g?

You're going to eventually have dead zones to address as the coral grow & fill in the tank so plan for adding more pumps later.
You can do a bubble test to see what the flow is like. Take a straw or air hose & blow air into the input of one of the pumps for a few seconds then watch the bubbles blow around. You'll see if your pumps are doing what they should be doing right before your eyes and can plan accordingly. |
