...and if you do come to town for a visit, I'm sure there's a bunch of guys who would be happy to take you around on the frag tank tour! VIP entry, no waiting at the door! My new Acro frag from Peter is awesome! https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7689/...5b198e1b_b.jpg Anyone have any idea what these might be. Thousands everywhere. Trochus snail eggs? Best picture I could get. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7684/...3025006b_b.jpg |

My guess is Spirorbid worms Thanks for the invite's guys, Maybe we'll have to arrange something later in the summer. Great looking progress on the tank Warren! |
Picked up an Omega 150 from Peter. Gave it some TLC for good measure!
https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5467/1...0b5b5bbd_o.jpg Got it installed today after the 25% w/c. Just need a Vertex reactor for the carbon and the sump theme will be complete. Think Bblinks has one kicking around. https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5465/1...351b80db_o.jpg Still haven't switched out the MP40wes driver with the new QD driver. So lazy! https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5458/1...65e4c4fc_o.jpg Took a whole 15 seconds to dial in. Skimming like a champ now. https://c1.staticflickr.com/9/8725/1...c21cc8e5_o.jpg Dealing with high Nitrates, added too many fish at once for such a young tank me thinks. Just glad everything looks healthy. Major w/c happening on Tuesday when I pull a few fish out! https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5341/1...0c881da2_o.jpg I'll figure it out. https://c1.staticflickr.com/9/8782/1...02a73710_o.jpg Thanks for looking and happy reefing! https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5333/1...a50eed37_o.jpg |
Good call on the Omega 150, I had it on my 75g and it was a breeze to setup and use.

Sweet looking tank, bro.
Love the Naso - it was my target fish in upgrading - even though a 210 is technically a bit on the small side for them :( |

Come on now. We all know he doesn't care how it works. He just wanted to have a protein skimmer that matched his sump.

Thanks for the Naso, BTW. It's in my QT atm. Didn't want to chance anything by not QT-ing even though I know it's a clean fish, plus I'm going away for the weekend so just for safety he's going in there for a couple weeks at least. |

Glad to hear the inappropriate fishes have left the arena
Most chromis suck balls .. but keeping the Naso would have been cool with the right tank. I'm sure your wife was trying to make you keep it  We need to see some pics of you actually 'mounting corals' !!! Enough of the Horten von Ware, get on with the mounting  And sell that ugly green birdsnest already ... |

Last night (literally minutes before leaving for the U2 concert) I noticed something wrong with the Blueberry Tenius.
https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5466/1...422f3e6b_o.jpg I frantically texted Rich and he diagnosed RTN. Oh man. I quickly dipped and turkey basted the frag for several minutes. https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5462/1...876bda74_o.jpg No signs of AEFW, just skin and pods. Then several minutes in Lugols Solution, a rinse and back in the tank as we headed out the door. Tried to calm myself and enjoy the show, which we did! https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5341/1...f708a59c_o.jpg https://c4.staticflickr.com/8/7706/1...70ef8d75_o.jpg This morning I have been researching RTN and STN, and the appropriate actions to take. I'm thinking just to make fresh cuts of the frag. If I lose the piece, so be it, that's part of the game. I am worried about all the other pieces and wondering if there is anything I need to do to treat the tank, or is the infection localized? Any insight would be helpful. |
I am no expert by any means but i had the same problem about a month ago...for me it was low alk and mag to start with, then i discovered my skimmer pump had a snail stuck in it and wasnt pumping much water all. fixed all that and they stopped stning after a day or 2, i also cut back on feeding the fish a tiny bit.. So i beleive i had too high nutrients, not enough oxygen and too low alk and mag
|
I did end up fragging up the pieces it was too late for and they are thriving now...

Sorry to hear about the grief Warren
I wouldn't fret about O2 if your skimmer is producing micro bubbles under the foam head |
So Warren hows everything looking now? Still having issues or back to normal?
|
Everything appears to be back to normal. Ended up tossing the piece as it was too late to save. Going to monitor for one more week then begin mounting the frags.
|
Forgot to ask you today how that new skimmer is working out

Minor disappointing update I'm afraid...
Lost the Kole and a Flame Angel, within 12 hours apart, to what appears to be Ich. Ruled out Velvet, based on where the Flame came from. He was re-homed to my tank last week. Too much stress in too short a time I figure. Clowns and Damsel are showing symptoms, so I am hoping for the best. Plans to add fish at this time are completely on hold. I am starting to reconsider a QT. Nitrates continue to be around 5 ppm. With the help of a few other members at large, we've pretty much narrowed it down to the dry rock, and the time it takes to build up the beneficial bacteria. Just a waiting game at this point. Corals were browning out, due possibly to the fact that I was only running the Kessils at 60%. Slowly been ramping them up to 100% with a longer photo period, and the corals seem to be responding, with colours returning. On a positive note all the inverts are doing well, including the Bubble Tip, which has quadrupled in size. The Trochus Snails continue to keep all hair algae in check, and coralline is starting to take hold on the rocks finally. At this point I am thinking of a coral and invert only tank, lol. Finally picked up some pods today in hopes of building a grand army! https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/513/18...25c7c798_o.jpg |
I think your corals are browning because you are using LEDs
