these aren't lords i don't think... what are they and how are they touching without warfare?

It is actually a single colony of Acan Echinata

the orange and purple parts are the same colony? my echinata colours seem to blend in a more muddy way... those are distinctly colored areas that's awesome!

Yup, a lot mine are the same way as well, only a few I have gotten in the past have distinctively separate colours.
