overdriveing remora skimmer

I have an aqua c remora skimmer and i was thinking of changeing the pump from a maxi 1200 to the mag 3 off of the remora pro to get more skimming. would this have any negative effects or is it possible

Yes it is possible.

I upgraded the Rio 1400 on my remora pro to a mag 5. You have to make sure the connection is tight or it will blow it off and shoot water all over the walls.

Also if you are using an Aqua-C preskimmer box you may have to thin the foam pad on the return side to increase the flow or it will back up and overflow.

Not that any of this has ever happened to me...

Does it increase the efficency
