I wasn't going to post this, but I'm so excited, I'd thought I'd share with my reefer friends!
After 8 1/2 years, I no longer have a boyfriend, we got engaged this past Saturday while we were out camping....he made sure both our families were there (which is not surprising as they usually will come out wherever we are for a visit).
We'll probably rush a wedding simply because my dad is not well and I want him to share the day with us. Some may say why, its just a piece of paper, what changes etc., but it is important to me. He's an amazing guy and after so many years, things just keep getting better and better!
Hope you don't mind me sharing....

Congratulation and as usual I have some unsolicited advice..... Sounds like your first kick at the can since getting married was important to you sooo.....
1. Don't try to change him and more importantly don't change yourself.
2. House bank account for household expenses and each of you continue with separate bank accounts. With you younger whipper snappers this might be the norm now.

Congrats on the engagement. & yes, I agree, make it quick so your dad can join in the festivities and memories. As a dad myself, I know that is an event I would hate to miss. Hope his health improves. Again, congrats.

grrrr, can't quote everyone in one post....
THANKS everyone!!!
Nope, this will be second marriages for both of us. We are a blended family (he has 4 kids, I have 2), but 3 are now in their early 20's and not living at home.
It's important to me for a number of reasons - having more kids is NOT one of them...lol
Thank you for thinking we are young, I am at heart but my drivers license says something different.
I think the blending of bank accounts is a motivator for him, not going to happen. We already have separate accounts and a joint account. It will stay this way.
Open invite....hmmmm, we'll see.... I think you are all great, but I've seen some of you drink and you may just clean out the bar...lol
My dad - we just don't know. I've told him he has to stick around for a while longer, I think he will try but sometimes the body has other plans. I want him there so if it means we head to City Hall for a quick ceremony, then that's what I'll do and have the party after.

There ya go, you need no advise.. My second wife always says to me to quit giving advise when it's not asked for!!!.. I tell her 'if I wanted her advise I would have asked so quit bugging me'

That is wonderful news! Congratulations for the both of you and your new little family. And prayers that your Dad recovers enough to enjoy your day. Just a thought, have you looked into a Justice of the Peace to do a bedside ceremony in case your Dad isn't doing well?

Way to go Congrats to the two of you, my advice: talk lots, trust lots, and most important " Love lots". 25 years with my bride next April 29/14 :peace:

Thank you. We've discussed this and yes it is an option, even if its just a "pretend" one due to arranging of marriage license and JP. Dad thinks we should just rent a coach bus, drive to Vegas and party there and back!! Gotta love him!!

Congrats to you and your bride!!! Hope you have something fun planned! That's quite the accomplishment! My parents hit 43 years this week!!!
My big thing with my guy is no expectations. Weird how this has worked, but it has as I am always surprised by the little things he does! Started when we first started dating and hasn't really changed, just evolved.

Again, congrats and love your dad's idea about the party-wedding bus to Vegas & back. Sounds like a great guy.
We just celebrated our 11th on Saturday back in Powell River. Brought both girls this time so it was Isabella's first trip there.
Also, do what makes you two happy regarding the wedding. We wanted a beach wedding and both sets of parents wanted the big church & Chinese banquet (280 guests) type wedding. We ended up doing the big wedding on Aug. 24 and then we went up to Powell River to do the beach wedding on Aug. 31. Best of both worlds.

We did it! Got hitched this past weekend! Fun camping wedding at Gleniffer Lake! 30+ degrees, was bloody hot, but it couldn't have been any more perfect! Waiting on pics!
Can finally start paying attention to my tank again, it's been sorely neglected!

You guys should do what my good friends did several years ago and do a shotgun wedding which was pretty funny to see her dad standing behind the groom with a pretend shotgun while they took their vows coolest wedding I've been too in some time

Thanks everyone, I'll post some pics when I get some digital copies.
Was a fun day, we set up a photo booth with a Polaroid camera so everyone could take some fun pics. We also had a S'mores/candy bar set up for the kids. The boys changed out of their suits almost as soon as everything was done and went for a swim. The pig roast was awesome, even managed a dj on the site. Even though it was hot during the day, it made for an awesome evening around the fire later.
My dad was a trooper and although I didn't get a father daughter dance, he was still a big part of the day!
Jason's boss gave us a trip to phoenix/Mexico, so we are heading down next spring, to hit the NASCAR race, then a week in Mexico.
