I have a piece of green M.digitata that broke off of the colony that I just bought. It is about 3"-4" long. I would like to trade it for a piece of purple or pink M.digitata or some other kind of Montipora.

C'mon, I know allmost everyone here has some montipora in their tank. Just snap off an arm that is making your colony liik funny, bag it, and we'll do the whole swap thing.

Hey Rory,

I think everyone has BROWN monti's in their tank thanks to a nameless reefer from Red Deer  ...I've never seen purple or pink...I didn't realize they came in those colors!

 Half of the brown ones I was distributing have in fact purple skeletons with brown polyps, just ask Beth! I also had some green and orange. So I'm not entirely evil!

Well, I was just looking at some websites and saw that there are both purple and pink varieties, in addition to the one with green polyps (like the one I have). Here is a link for those of you who are curious.

Exactly. I do think that those are the polyps that are so colorful in the pictures. That is why I am actually surprised that not a lot of people have these relatively easy to care for, fast growing, beautiful corals.

For what it's worth, I once spent mucho dinero buying a piece of that pink M. digitata but after a few months under captive conditions and Iwasaki lighting it turned into your garden variety purple (or brownish with purple tips). Long since traded or given away that particular piece, so I have no idea if it ever returned to pinkish under different lighting.
