So after getting sick of pump failure, (stray voltage(alot of it)) I've decided to completely and totally mod a skimmer I have laying around.

Reason for not just throwing in a new pump is I wanted a skimmer that has everything I want.

My inspiration

Vertex and swc.

After setting up my new vertex omega I fell in love with it. The only feature I would have liked to see on it that I've seen on other skimmers is the knob thingy that the swc skimmers have to adjust the outflow.

SOOO.... I started modding my swc 160 cone that I don't have a pump for because swc decided to use pos pumps that blow up, don't restart, or just plain electrocute you

My main goal is to make all the parts interchangeable with the factory parts so if I decide to ill be able to return it to its original state (minus the pump)

All parts built by me are either black of clear

I started off by making a new baseplate out of 3/8 acrylic with a routered finish on all edges

After that was the 3piece bubble chamber thingy (2 tubes glued to either side of a round plate thingy with lots of holes and slots)

All I have left to do now is build a mounting plate for the motor and a tube to connect the pump output to the inner chamber

Ps: I love my fancy spiral router bit

Some of the parts are still kind of ugly as they still need to be polished (with fire)

Here's a better picture of the piece I made

I'm waiting on finishing the motor mount until I figure out for sure what motor ill be running. I've been thinking about running a speedwave.
