Hi fellow gurus. I have found a recent growth of this reddish algae that grows super slow over my rocks. It has become unsightly and I wish to get rid of it. Will emerald crabs eat this? Or tuxedo urchins? Thanks!

pull it out with a tweeser. It grow quite slow. Or maybe a Mexican turbo snail.

That is probably Gelidiopsis spp. algae. Cladophoropsis spp. is green.

Diadema Urchins and many Tangs will usually eat it, although both are suited to large aquariums. You could try a Tuxedo Urchin and/or Scarlet or Blue Legged Hermit crabs if the tank is smaller.

Is it on a rock you can pull out? If so, you can treat it externally with peroxide. I haven't tried it on this kind of algae but every other that I've tried has worked.

i think that is red turf algae, very hard to kill them 100%, but quite sure Mexican turbo snail can eat them, my tank's all gone now
