one of my two clown fish died and im hoping to replace him or her with one of similar age for better compatibility its a long shot but its the first fish I owned and i wanna try to pair him/her up. Clown that died was captive bred and they never mated but got along great.

Bump!

After some research I beleve i have a False Percula clown fish aka Amphiprion ocellaris or Ocellaris Clown fish. Not sure of gender but i think its a male as that is what my spouse swears by.

Wild caught clowns are not so easy to find these days. With the availability of captive bred, and ocean politics , they just don't come around too often.

Following, as I too want a wild caught pair. I'll follow your leads. :)

If a clown is alone... It's very likely female.

Your best bet is get a clown smaller than what you have or there is a good chance of trouble.

I also just gotta say, I don't understand why people call OCs false Percs. It's a different fish. And in my opinion much nicer than a perc. Maybe I should call Percs false Ocellaris. Lol.

At least you never said nemo. I cringe when people say that. Lol. Sorry for the rant.

Is the bigger one (the female) or smaller one (the male) remaining? If the bigger one remains, a small captive bred fish from your LFS should get along just fine. If the smaller one remains then you are probably right that it is still a male and you should try to find a bigger one.

There's a nemo lol ( had to do it after the rant ) on kijiji right now , looks in the 3-4 inch range. Might wanna check it out as far as wild caught the only place I've seen them is j&l aquatics but I would imagine there pretty small.
Unless I'm way out to lunch I recall someone telling me depending which becomes dominant they will change there sex accordingly
