What water testing kits or instruments do you use for Phosphate, Calcium, KH, etc. Opinions on the brands out there. :question:

For phos, a Hanna meter is best.

Elos and salifert are the most common and best kits to use.

I've not found a PO4 kit I like yet
Seachem didn't work for me
Hanna is OK, but not fun to use

For the Big 3 I use and like Elos

I use the Hanna for Po4 but I usually dump at least some of the reagent all over my counter. I used to use Salifert for Ca, Mg and alk, buy after trying Elos, I did switch my Ca to them, but I kept Salifert for the other 2.

Try using a small funnel (Bed, Bath & Beyond) when adding the reagent to avoid spilling any, and help to keep things consistent. Personally I like Hanna for po4 & kh, haven't found any other test kits I like much.

Have used them all over the years.

The only ones I will use now based on price,ease of use, accuracy are;

Calcium - Elos
Alk/KH - Salifert
Mag - Salifert
Phos - Elos
