It looks like a lookdown they get to around 2 feet in size and I believe will eat smaller fish.

The easy thing to do is call your LFS. Probably would have known by now.
I always worry seeing a post like this as it means you do not know anything about this fish other than what the LFS told you.
It is always best to do your research before buying.
Good luck. Hopefully it's not a beast like the look down!

I have a matted filefish. its peaceful and similar to yours but tail is
a fan shape is constantly eating of the rock and is not fazed by the
larger fish. grows to 3-1/2 inches. does yours change colours?

Oh so you bought this fish and its in your tank already? It's tail does look different than the filefish. I'm with Fishoholic on this one. I hope we're wrong though

I don't think it's a look down from the pics I've seen of juveniles they are more camouflaged like weeds.
http://www.thejump.net/id/lookdown.htm
I think it's a juvenile file fish of some kind of it's not a common one like a matted, but a more uncommon species. I would call the lfs and ask. (mostly because I'm curious as well lol)
Either way a very cool looking fish hope it works out.
