Its been a while since I've updated Canreef on what my reefing situation is looking like so I its time for a new build thread.

Since parting ways with my brother on our 250g display I held a 37g 24" X 24" X 14"H cubish tank. Decided to pull the trigger on a nicer build and was a little blown away by how well Concept turned this puppy out. Big credit to both Denny & Dave, they made this really easy for me and have been nothing but helpful since the get go.

New tank Specs:

30"X 30"X 14"T: 55g
Starphire on all three viewing sides, external rear overflow
CSC 150 Skimmer, 2 Radion Gen 1s, Aquaclear for carbon/GFO
Tunzee ATO with 40g baffled sump & 15g top off tank
Return pump & Korellia 4 for flow

Fish List:

Starry Blenny
Harem of Flasher Wrasses (3F 1M)
Yellow Tang

Coral List:
Zoanthids/ Palys out of the yinngg yanngg!

I will snap some more accurate photos of the fish & coral tomorrow when the lights are on.

nice build... can't wait to see more pics... last tank was pretty friggin sweet! Just wish we lived closer so we could trade some zoa/palys to add to my garden...

Looks great Levi! A build with instant gratification, nice :-)

You must have to clean that tank very very slowly/carefully. I noticed that the water line looks pretty high and there is no eurobracing.

I'm sure as most can attest I'm pretty bad for getting frags cut , I'm a little too addicted to share haha! No photos tonight unfortunately, just got home and the lights are already almost off. I will get a whole whack load of them up hopefully by the weekend.

When it was first set it up I was a little scared of exactly that, ends up not being all that bad and with the lack of bioload I rarely have to clean the glass. I thought the waterline would sit about an inch off the glass but its much closer to a cm .

Why thank you !

Polyps GALOORREE!
Instead of a sand bed or bare bottom I purchased quite a few tumbled marble tiles, should look really good when the zoas start growing on it not to mention it should make for much easier fragging.

Thats a cool idea for the bottom having tiles there. How do you like your skimmer so far? I just orded the CSC 250 but havent gotten around to putting it in the tank yet

As long as you don't have them melt on you, just sayin :twised:

Subscribed! I want to be the first to know when you start fragging this system! Calgary's LFS's have been getting too much of my aquarium budget, it's time to send some your way...

So far I'm blown away @ the quality of it, the pump is practically silent and this was the foam product after just a few days. I have yet to tune it in yet, hoping to get it perfect this weekend.

I think its about time to invest in bear traps . Haha, actually though so far so good with this tank. Happy to have the angels and detritus sinks out, you know how zoas are though.

I know how you feel, I'm pretty sure I should be around 60-70k Concept Points @ the moment. Unfortunately Dave doesn't honor these imaginary tokens I keep claiming to have...

Just came home with a snazzy colony of Candy Apple Pinks tonight ! If I admit your first in line certain other parties might remove my limbs but I will see what I can do.

Agreed, so far so good. This thing is about two times larger and 2 times quieter than my last one.

I've become a master at doing transfers now , this scares me a little.

Thanks, the Tonga branch makes it really easy to stack. It came in cycling really bad so it wasn't all that nice to the previous tank, its starting to get a nice coraline coating now. Its a yellow tang, my Radions have a 30 min session directly before the night session where it spikes the red spectrum.

Buahahaa . What you don't have decorative ladders by your tanks?

Your notch for your external overflow box, curious what size it is as in height and width. These are the weird things I like to know but it's not dirty just weird.

The box is 16L X 5W X 8H, the black acrylic notches are 1cm long with .7cm between each one and they are about an inch tall.

Do you mind giving a quick description of your Ca, alk, Mg and any other dosing you do?

Zoaelite
05-06-2013, 10:22 PM
Funny enough this tank doesn't have the doser running, 10 day 30% water changes only.

Zoas don't really have much for a Ca/Alk req.
