About two months ago we bought a Kenya Tree Coral - it has looked very happy and healthy until this week. It has looked quite wilted. I have checked some of the water parameters and everything seems normal
Temp 78 degrees
Phospahte Nil
Nitrate Nil
SG 1.025

Any suggestions or hints of what to do would be appreciated. Thanks.

Kenya tree is almost impossible to kill. I have pieces on rocks that I have tossed into buckets for a couple of weeks with no light, heater or circulation and they still come out fine.
There are so many variables it is hard to say. Can you start out by telling us about any changes that you have made to your system? Are you dosing anything?

Thanks for the question . . . There have been very few changes to the system in the past two weeks. All the other corals seem to be doing well.

I did put in Chemiclean to get rid of some cyano that was starting to grow - that would have been 9 days ago. I have since done about 35% water change. I have recently changed out the GFO and carbon. I have added some additional SPS corals and a few mushrooms, but all these are at least a foot away from the Kenya Tree.

I am not currently dosing with anything.

I use chemiclean in tanks with Kenya Tree, it is reef safe (it's just an antibiotic). If your other corals are fine I wouldn't worry about the Kenya Tree. Give it a few days and see how it goes.

Maybe you cleaned up the tank way too quickly?

I've never had Kenya tree but all the leathers I had used to wilt shrink up then puff up and shed.

Not really sure if a Kenya tree is a leather or not though.

Thank for the comments - I'll stop worrying about it, give it more time and relax more so that I don't go complelty crazy! :silly: LOL

Ive got a ton of kenya trees in my tank (as you will too in no time) and every few months they go through that. theyl slump over or shrivel up into a tight ball for a couple days but they always come back. like a previous poster said, their almost impossible to kill. i tore off one that was nearing 6 inches high and the area i tore it from is growing again.
