So recently got my Ca Reactor running and have been testing daily. Alk rock steady at 10dKH using a Salifert test kit (2015 expiry). Read that Salifert Alk kits test about 2dKH higher than Elos so I was quite happy running at 10dKH.

But I just wanted to be sure so a friend brought over his new Salifert Alk test kit. Guess what? His kit read 12.4dKH.

Hmm? Gonna buy an Elos kit tomorrow.

Anyone else experience this?

Your kit normally comes with a bottle of test fluid so you can check to see how accurate your kit is working. Try it with that fluid and see if it is in the range it states on the label of the fluid. If it does, you are good to go. If not, may be time for a new one.

Well you might as well buy two Elos test kits since you may find the same results with it.
IMO these hobby test kits tend to be just that, hobby test kits. I Pick one and stay with it. I test a lot as well. I use API....I know I know:neutral:

Not sure what others think of ELOS kits, but l think they are horrible to use... Not a clear endpoint

We've tried every alk kit on the market and nothing compares to the constancy of the Hanna Checker.
