Hi Folks,

Having an issue...

I picked up some plastic bird netting to use for a screen cover for my 125 reef.

However I need something to frame it with.. Was going to use traditional window screen stuff, but its like 20$ ea a kit and I would need 3.

Anyone have any other solution?

Bulk reef supply sells a kit for about $24 for everything. That's all I've seen

I know here, you can buy the rails and corners individually at Home Depot. Not sure how much though.

We don't have a home depot.. (I live in a small town) but there is one a few hours away. Next time I'm that way I will have to check.

This is why I used eggcrate. One 2x4 sheet was enough for the whole tank. Half the time you can find it lying around somewhere.

Rona has 3'x3' kits for $14 plus 25' of spline for $4. So, for $30 you could make two 3' screens.

I just went to a store that specializes in plastic and signs. I got them to cut me up a bunch of 1/4" strips. Then you can cut the strips to whatever length you want at home. I used a board with nails in it to stretch out the netting and glued the strips together with the netting sandwiched between them. You need to get the glue from where you get the plastic. It's a special kind. Eggcrate looks cheap and bad. If you ask for the damaged or scratched plastic they'll probably just give it to you for free.
