Hey there local canreefers!

I've checked out canreef's new sponsor (Canada Corals), and they've got some pretty nice stuff!

http://www.canadacorals.com/collections/livestock

In order to get free shipping we need a group buy of $400.
I'm willing to arrange for pick-up for the items you would like! Simply pm me your username, email and list of items (and prices) of the livestock you would like and once we reach the $400 mark, I will place a notice the order is closing and notify all involved of the pick-up time and date! (once everyone has paid of course).

Any questions feel free to pm or post me anytime!

Cheers,

Steve (somewherebeyondthesea)

Ok! Looks like we have reached our $400 mark!

Since I know there are some procrastinators that are sitting on the fence (you know who you are) I'm going to extend the cutoff date to be on Jan.22nd, 2013

After Canada Corals has collected the purchase orders I will setup a pick up date for our awesome frags!

I created a custom coupon code named "grouporder" so that shipping is 100% free to Steve's address.

That makes it simple to take separate payments from each person. :)

well, ive had the bags floating for about an hour now and i can see some polyp extension on the montipora digi and birdsnest. not going to lie, i didnt have my hopes up when they arrived so cold, but everything looks ok. we'll just have to see what happens when they hit my water, i dont have a good track record with sps.

Corals came very well packed and labelled. The WYSIWYG posting from the supplier is a great comfort to know everything is ok at their end before shipping. I acclimated them over a 2.5 hour period and made sure my new Evergrow IT2040 LED fixture was keeping it's 30% (all channels) setting. I was going to give them a dip of Coral Rx but, as mentioned previously, they arrived very cold and I didn't want to stress them any more than necessary. Rather than placing them in my main display, I decided to play it safe and put them in my cube that was set up a few months ago. They're already getting some polyp extension and don't seem to be as angry as other SPS that I've had shipped. Now, like everything else in this hobby, we wait.

this is my first try using revive, and im giving all 5 frags i got today a bath in it so hopefully it helps. theres already a couple dead creepy crawlies in the pail so hopefully if theres anything bad on the frags it wont make it.

Good practice to dip no matter what the coral comes in like. Even if I bring stressed coral from overseas I always dip them. IF they don't survive then it wasn't meant to be.

I'd rather a few dead coral then a tank full of dead ones.

When I get frags I also take them off the original plugs and put them on my own plugs. You never know what kind of eggs may be lurking on the plug that Revive/Coral Rx doesn't kill

Heres the pics of mine. second day and the polyps are still extended on the digi and the birdsnest. i was happy to see the zoas open up right away and stay open as well. now if i could just figure out how to get my new toadstool to do the same =/. my pics were taken with a crappy digital camera, so theyre blurred as well.

Hey Glen.
Lights over the cube just came on. Looks like I've lost my superman monti. The tissue is brown and slowly sloughing off exposing white skeleton. My pink acropora mille is looking the best of the 5 with good polyp extension. The rainbow monti is doing ok as is the red monti cap and purple rim green monti cap. I'm kinda bummed about the superman m. I don't know how bad the toxins are from a single frag losing tissue. Perhaps I should consider running carbon.

Baldy

My green birdsnest MIGHT be bleaching near the frag plug but the tips still have good color and good polyp extension. The hot pink zoas are still hot pink but the tentacles might have lost a bit of color. It could be the lighting tho. And the forest fire digi is doing really good as far as I can tell. I'm no sps expert tho.

My Forest Fire and Bonsai are doing great:biggrin:! Sadly though I think my mystery acro is slowly losing its skin:sad:

Looks like my bushy blue acro isn't going to make it either😢. Was already missing tissue/bleaching when it arrived. Hoping it pulls through.

I am not surprised that some of those frags are losing tissue. The box arrived very cold due to the weather. Those two 40hr Uni-heat packs was not enough.

I shipped an order to B.C. yesterday with 4 heat packs in a smaller box and it arrived @ 79F.

We have a livestock guarantee for this exact reason so if your corals don't make it, send us a picture via email and we will take care of you. :)

Baldy

Not to try and abuse the system, but how long after receiving is that guarantee good for?

We guarantee that your corals will arrive alive and remain alive for 10 days.

Perhaps then...the 7 of us that ordered if you can supply canada corals with any pictures of any product that is out of spec we can orgagnize a group shipment if that would help? I'm not sure everyone had complications?

I would like to add those that have been following this thread, that Canada Corals has been responding to emails in a very timely and professional manner.

We have been notified of fatalities by email. Since it was our fault that the corals arrived so cold, we will be giving refunds instead of credits.

To be honest, I am shocked that some corals made it! The water got so cold, its incredible how resilient some corals really are.

We are now shipping with 3-4 heat packs in a box half that size and corals are arriving @ 78F.
