View Full Version : Anyone running biopellets on approx 700G system?
Just wondering how many mL you use and how often you replace them? Thanks.

Vertex Pellets say 50 - 200 ml of pellets per 100 liter of net system water volume. Replace them as they deplete.
Thanks but I'm moreso interested in how many mL people use and how long it takes before replacing them so I can budget for "X" number of dollars each month. That way by the time I need to replace lets say 750mL of biopellets, I'll already have a fund set aside to purchase them so I'm more prepared for the ongoing monthly costs that come with a large reef tank.

I use up about 1000 ml in a year, for a 100g tank. I used to have high nitrates (now zero), so probably won't use that much going forward.

at the store we burn through a 1000ml bag of Biopellets about ever 6 months on about 400gallons. as you know we have minimal live rock, feed quite heavily, and see a lot more fish.
Thanks guys. What pellets are you using out of curiosity?

I use the Vertex pro-bio pellets. I also use MB7, which is key to ensuring no cyano, mulm or clumping. Just bio pellets alone does not work very well.

We use vertex at the store, and i use them at home as well. I have used tlf, and NPX in the passed i didnt really notice a difference.
