I am using a 32W smart lamp 50/50 10K/actinic from customsealife and was wondering that for replacements, I could use a 4100K generic bulb.

what are the disadvantages of that?

thanks in advance

like Bob said not as blue and it is more heavy into the red spectrum.. also because of this there will be a lower PAR output of say a simular bulb inthe 6500 to 10K range.

I'd say don't do it, 4100k isn't a good colour light in my opinion.
