I Just got a bunch if hermits and 2 of them looks unlike the others no cause of the shell but cause of their look. The seem to be trying to fight each other currently but I don't want them to hurt my fish or my coral

Here are some pics if they help in wether they are reef safe or not.

So the one on the right is blueish and black and has hairy legs and greenish antenae and the one on the right is black and white non hairy legs and orange antennae

Any help with this would be awesome
thanks guys

IMO, no. I would not consider any larger hermit crab to be reef safe. I only like the teeny tiny hermits.

I'm not sure about being "reef unsafe" but bigger hermits are annoying. They knock over and dislodge smaller coral pieces... I find corals laying on each other and half dead after stinging each other... big hermits may also hunt smaller hermits. I got a clean up crew as part of a package from a tank shut down deal along with mixed hermits... when I got some new smaller hermits, two older big ones were repeatedly seen holding new hermit shells and trying to pull out their contents. The two big hermits went for a flight out the window and into the woods... haven't been a problem since.

Totally agree with Reef_Geek,

I've had a varied experience with hermits, sometimes good, sometimes evil little buggers.

I'll keep an eye on them and just watch for them they are the biggest in the tank so hopefully they are chillin little guys

I would be more worried about them crawling on your frog spawn. They are very delicate and prone to infections compared to most corals.

It's a hammer head but ok I'll keep an eye out one does seem to be chillin under it

The one on the right (zebra crab) is ok. I have lots. They sit in my leathers and push over frags, but its been 2 years and they havnt really hurt anything. Cants speak for the other crab. No idea what type it is?

Well that's a little relieving the zebra was the none being picked on... I just asked for 8 hermits and I got these two odd balls ... Not really even sure what kind the others are either thanks for the info on the zebra

Here's a pic of the 6 other one I got they all pretty much look the same

So I don't know if it's possible but could the hermits I added have eaten one of my fish... I can't seem to find it and I don't see a carcus and it didn't jump :S

doubtful on hermits hunting fish... but they will eat a dead fish pretty quickly.

That's got to be one hell of a hermit to eat a whole tang!
