I heard an ad on the radio this morning for Sears having their Black Friday sale lasting all weekend! I think Best buy and Futureshop might be doing something similar.

well, just came back from checking out Pisces and Big Als Calgary. Not really anything spectacular. When I lived in the US, Black Friday is like our Boxing Day (that level of deep sales and variety) except most people try to get all their Christmas shopping done on this one day... it's that kind of madness. In Canada, businesses seem to do the Boxing Day sales to clear inventory but seemed today to try conserving their margins on Christmas shoppers. Saw some deals at Big Als but didn't see any Black Friday deals at Pisces. I picked up an Arc Eye Hawk for $20 at Big Als, and a neon green elegance coral w/ pink tips for $80 at Pisces... neither one was on special. I think Big Als has fish specials coming up later this weekend but this was a nice coloured hawk at a good price so why wait and risk someone else grabbing it?

Went to Best Buy and came out with a Kobo mini (Blk Fri special $50) and a Canon 40mm f/2.8 lens ($180 regular price) that I didn't plan on buying. Mark's Work Warehouse didn't have any Black Friday specific sales. Also got a veggie magnet and a dog coat from Pisces, not on sale. Seemed like I bought a bunch of stuff today but only one thing was a Black Friday sale.
