Is kids Disney cherry flavored lip balm hazardous to reef environment? Long story short took a friend and his 2 kids out for lunch today brought them back to look at tank and then took them home unbeknownst to me one of his daughters dropped her lip balm into the tank and did not discover it til I came back an hr later.

My guess is it will be fine, but in a pinch you can do a water change and swap out the carbon (or put some on if you don't already) just to be safe.

I just finished a 30% water change and I will set up a carbon filter and let it run a few days.

I'll keep an eye on my reef for next few days for any negative changes

Thank you

If its a polar substance which floats on water your skimmer should do a bang up job of removing it. I wouldn't worry about it, probably just fish scales in there anyways.

Lmfao Jason!!!!!!!!!

If I were a fish in your tank I'd sure be chapped!

Or maybe not chapped! Regardless, you should be fine! Lol

I doubt the water was warm enough to melt it, or alternatively if it was, that enough would melt to cause a problem in an hour or two. Run some carbon or do a waterchange if you like but I highly doubt you'll see any adverse effects.
