Went to a friends house for dinner tonight and he has a beautifully set up 160 gallon fresh water tank. After dinner we were admiring his tank when his 5 yr old and 3 yr old sons ran into the room playing one of their games that we adults never understand. The 3 yr old had a soft nerf like bat but with a solid metal core as we discovered later and he swung at his brother the bat slipped out of his hands and right into the tank.

We both heard the ominous cracking sound of breaking glass and about 3/4 the way up the tank is a lovely crack roughly 9cm long running along the side of the tank about 4cm from left seam of the tank on the front panel.

There was a small leak but we got that sealed with all things a bike repair patch and duct tape until he can either get the tank sealed or replaced is there a type of silicone or glue we can use to keep the crack from getting larger? He has several weather proof silicones for sealing windows and caulking will these work til we can get a more permenant solution in place and not kill the tank.

Almost all his fish are exotic fresh water fish and we are trying not to break the tank further or kill them inadvertently with general hardware products.

Any help be much lay appreciated

we have lowered the tank water lvl and transfered a few of his less fussy fish into a 20 gallon tank but we dare not transfer some of the others as they don't handle switching environments too well and some are way too big for the 20 gallon and he wants to keep this tank going til he can get his old tank from his brother in Kamloops up to switch tanks and fish which should be by sunday
