I first noticed this about 6 weeks ago and it was about the size of a dime , and now it's about the size of a quarter.

This morning I found it on the sand bed a few inches below where it normally sits on the rock.

Does anyone know what this is?

It looks like a maxi mini,if it contains no stoney.

I tried gently poking it a couple weeks ago when it was still attached to the rock to see what would happened and it quickly closed up and it had a hard base/skeleton if that makes sense.

Its a baby fungai coral if it has a base , its a nice looking one too. Expect more to pop out of the same spot its how the reproduce.

So if that's what it is the baby will grow on the rock where it just moved from?

Once detached, it will form a new one from the same spot. Couple of my rock has those growing.
