Well after months of having these cree 3w leds sitting from rapid led, i finally got around to doing something with it. I recently purchased a Hakko soldering station so i was set to begin!

First design was out of 0.125" 6061 but i stepped it up to 0.1875" and added vents to the center where i thought a fan could potentially be needed. This is my first time playing around with 3w leds and after testing... well the heatsink is totally overkill. At least it will be quiet with no fan and i wont have to worry about it any overheating issues

Here are the pics of assembly and testing

Coolest heat sink ever, pun intended..! You should throw some 10 watt multi chip LEDs on that.

- I defiantly want to play around with some different colors, maybe some reds with a dimmable driver next time around.

- It was made using a waterjet

- I would like to try running some multichips! I need to read alittle more about them.
