I know this is not aquarium related, but I need to ask one of the resident computer gurus how to use Internet Explorer to ftp files. I can gain access to my web space, but have no idea how to use IE to transfer files. I always used WS_FTP, but I now get a 550 access denied error. The company hosting my website is not providing a lot of assistance.

I usually recommend cuteftp (http://www.cuteftp.com). Very simple and easy program.
Now do you have your FTP info for your website (should either be a IP address, or name based).
If you have that (along with username/password), you can use IE, by typing it in the address field above; eg:
ftp://ftpserver/url-path
But since you'll probably want to use your username/password:
ftp://user:password@ftpserver/url-path
Let me know if that works for you.
If you want a free FTP client, try FileZilla
http://sourceforge.net/projects/filezilla

You forgot the sarcastic smilie. I know you weren't serious Steve unless you prefer to do things the hard way. I prefer Drag and Drop over typing. Have you tried transferring a multi-level directory with the built-in FTP?

actually ya I do it all the time.. drag and drop just like windows explorer. in fact it is part of windows explorer.

Neato! I thought you were talking about the FTP program that runs when you type "ftp" on the commandline. Didn't realize Windows Explorer has FTP built-in.

just use internet explorer actualy then instead of a web address (http://) type the ftp address (FTP://) and it becomes a explorer based ftp.
Teevee Flash is awsome, I use it for different purposes but for uploading files to my webspace and mannaging ect.. the windows one is way way simpler. and no nag screens

We've figured it all out. both with WS_FTP, and using Explorer. Thanks all.
