I am shopping for something in the 8-14 gallon range for my wife's birthday, for her office. I have my choices narrowed down to an 8 gallon Innovative Marine Nano or a Coralife 14 gallon Biocube. I am leaning towards the Nano 8 because it seems to me that heat would be less of an issue than the Biocube thanks to the LEDs it uses. I am not interested in doing any mods to whatever tank I choose. Does anyone have any experiences they care to share regarding these two tanks, good and bad?

I've got an IM nuvo 8. It's very simple. Filters are readily available. Stock out of the box you should be able to keep softies. Zoas, some lps, etc. the light that comes with wont support much more than that. I've upgraded the pump, which is suggested. I've also purchased an ai nano light for mine. Can be found used for pretty decent prices. Well worth it. I've got pocci's And birdnests now. Easily supports sps now. I was topping up with store bought bottles of water just about everyday. That was getting old so I bought a tunze osmolator nano. It works like a charm. Now I only fill a small betta tank(my reservoir) under the cabinet once a week. Weekly water changes are super easy. 25% change is a large bottle of water. I would easily buy another one.

I personally like the Nuvo over the Bio Cube. Heat can be an issue in enclosed tanks like the Biocube. I agree the stock light isn't great with the Nuvo but slap a Kessil A150 on top and it looks amazing! I set one up at work that has a few euphyllia frags, flower pots, zoas, palys, an eco gorgonian, a baby plate and some sympodium. It's lit up with a Kessil A150 deep ocean blue and the colours just pop on the corals and the growth has been awesome.
