Thank God she was rescued, people that let their animals get that fat should never own animals!

Too bad they don't have a human rights program to take fat kids away

Fat kids usually have fat parents that need help and educating. Poorer families have a higher rate of obesity because cheap food is much higher in fat and salt. Lets punish the under privillaged instead of helping them.
The owner of the dog could have been a little old lady who thought she was being nice to the dog by feeding it whenever it begged her to do so. Sure the dog is ridiculously unhealthy but unless I knew that the person was overfeeding to be cruel or as a joke I wouldn't be after people's heads without knowing the facts. Some people really don't know what is too fat or skinny, anorexic people think they look fat all the time, they have mental issues. I've seen lots of fat fish on Canreef but no one cares.
That's not a Weiner dog, it's a Smokie.

Suspect the poor thing probably has a gland or hormone issue, can't see how it could get that fat by overeating.

Ignorance shouldn't be an excuse. If someone can't take the time to learn about an animals requirements, they shouldn't have animals. Animal ownership should be a privilege, not a right.

Like it or not animals are neither. They are a consumer product that are only raised or trapped to be sold and all pet owners are responsible for the continuation of this.

There is no pot, this isn't a new concept. Countries like North Korea already do this. If the mother or father isn't to the governments liking the fetuses are aborted or if they are born alive they are killed by such means as exposure or being buried alive. I seem to recall the same thing going on in germany a number of years back and it can be followed all the way back through recorded time. Canada is a free country and you have every right to support whatever you wish, a lot of people died so you could and it would be disrespectful to do otherwise.
This has nothing to do with a fat dog however and I apologize to the OP.
