I've been keeping an eye on this strange white "thing" over the last two weeks and now it seems to be growing and spreading. Anyone know what this is and what a good course of action might be.

It's hard to describe. White, sessile, seems to have multiple segmented "arms" rooted to a central base. One of the patches (on the right) also has small oval masses... (eggs maybe? Seems odd).

It's a mystery to me. Can't figure out how to describe it to get any good info through google searches.

Could be a sponge. Tough to say with those pics.

Thanks.
I'll try to get a better photo later this evening with my tripod.

But it seems I was mistaken when I said that it doesn't move. This morning it looks like the two patches became one larger patch... ?
And another small patch in another part of the tank is gone with only some of those small white ovals remaining...
Maybe they were eaten.
This morning my sexy shrimp appeared to be eating stuff around these things. But almost looked like he was tending them. Not destroying. Bah.

Ack.
Figured it out. I think they are monti eating nudibranchs.

It might be a type of foraminiferan if it looks kind of spong like, here's a link to help you identify. http://www.chucksaddiction.com/hitchodds.html
