Thinking about buying this Coralife Super Skimmer (needle wheel)

http://www.jlaquatics.com/product/ps-c3002/Coralife+Super+Protein+Skimmer+%28Needle+wheel%29+-+up+to+125+Gallon.html

Anyone have experiences with this Coralife Super Skimmer line? They look ridiculously affordable. JL has it (the 125 gal model) for $193 whereas Big Als wants $260... big difference.

Any experiences would be appreciated.

Abort! Abort!

They may not be the worst skimmer out there (pretty sure the skilter is the undisputed champ in that class), but definitely the worst of the many I have owned.

That's a huge agree there! I'd rather not run one than ever use that waste of space!!!!
Any thing is better!

DO NOT DO IT TO YOURSELF!

Don't do it! One of the worst skimmers ever made! You can buy a bubble magus for less than that!

DO NOT BUY ONE!!!!

Take it from someone who fought with a SS220 for 3 years to try and get it to run right......ended up turfing it and buying a SWC

Wow, very strong and consistent experiences so far...

What issues were you having with it?

thanks.

Here is a link you may want to look at on this skimmer...

You are better off now to spend good money on a good skimmer.

I used to have one of these very unreliable in terms of keeping a good constant skim. I would spend a little extra and get a Reef Octopus or something, those are pretty reasonable.

The Coralife is the definition of bad. I suggest you look at one of these if you don't want to spend too much. http://www.aquacave.com/Turboflotor-Blue-1000-Protein-Skimmer-by-AquaMedic-P2202C616.aspx

I have one and it does a decent job for the money spent. I run it on my 70 gallon and its been flawless in its operation. I had to make a silencer from a pill bottle though as I like it quiet.

Thanks everyone, very helpful. Looks like hit and miss... mostly miss on the online reviews.

How are the eShopps hang on back skimmers? Any experiences?

Thanks all for your input.

After your reviews and additional poking around, I'll go with an eShopps PSK-100H (HoB).

A few threads on Reef Central looks favourable.

Thanks for all your experiences!
