such a beautiful coral, this is and has always been by far my favorite species even more so then the pretty polyps i collect.sadly the past years have not done well for this species and the mortality rate is high and numbers collected is high.

before posting your gorgeous elegances, please take a minute to read the two links below.

cheers:)

mines around 16-20" long and grows in a "c " shape , it has around 25 mths
it gets fed daily some sort of meaty food and is a hog for the light.

Purchased in December 2009, here is an older picture of my now 3 year old elegance. I sold two frags of this and kept this one for myself. The claims about this coral are true, they can certainly be very difficult to keep. I believe that the two frags that I sold both died in their new owners tanks. If you want to attempt one wait until your tank is very mature and stable. Don't bother if you have fish that might pick at it or be rough with it. Buy an Australian specimen and feed it bits of silverside, krill or other sea food a couple of times each week.

lol...that was FAST. Thanks for the compliment. :) Also: regarding the articles to read in your first post - This piece was actually "fragged" or propagated from a mother colony at an lfs here. This was a small piece that grew unnoticed (or at the very least unfettered) for a few months at the lfs. I couldn't afford the "mother" colony that was sold to another hobbyist....but managed to get my hands on this one. :) So far...the mortality rate from the known frags have been very positive.
