Simulated Stucco

I'm building a shed and would like it to match my stucco house but I don't want to spend the time or money on actually applying stucco. Anyone happen to know of some kind of exterior sheathing that I can put up and paint to give a similar appearance to stucco. Something that is available locally.

How smooth is the stucco? Old school style rough stuff or modern smooth style? Roll-on box liner could do the trick depending which type of stucco.

Not super rough but kind of looks a knock down type of texture. I just want something with decent texture really is all but I'm not sure box liner is quite enough and price wise for a large shed I'm thinking it could be a pricey option, might look into it though. Thanks!

you can buy thoes old school presboard pannels that look like a textured wall. good exterior paint on it and it would hold up I would think. but it is a smoother texture. other than that you could just use OSB, rent a textured sprayer and add the texture yourself.

Hmm, yeah the box liner stuff is about $75 a gallon I think. There are different ones though, some much more textured than others. Have you looked into the cost of getting a pro to come in and stucco it? I can't imagine it would be overly costly...cash jobbers off Kijiji might be a good option if you're not super picky.

There are some panel products out there that would probably do what you need, I am not sure on the supplier though. I have seen them on a couple projects out here. Though if you are trying to do it on the cheap, vinyl siding is the cheapest option. depending on the size of the job it might be hard to get a contractor to do it, and it might still be a couple grand to do.

Yeah getting a stucco guy out here to do such a small job isn't worth it, it'll cost twice as much as the rest of the material so I'll paint it flat before I do that.

I've been looking for paneling but can't find it anywhere, seen pictures online but no stores carry anything like it.

Basically super thick paint that allows for a decent texture and hardens to a stone type feel. Should cost around a $1/sqft so not bad.

That doesn't look too bad, eh? Is it paintable though, or is that the color you want?

Tintable and I have a sample to bring in in hopes they can color match but if not they have a few stock colors that I think are pretty close. Worst case it is also paintable but planning to avoid that extra step and cost.

The only thing I would worry about with that product is that it's meant to go down on a flat surface, not vertical. I wonder if it would run?

Yeah I don't think it will work well vertical, I'm planning on building each wall first, laying flat to paint and then installing it on the foundation.

Deck restore worked out well so far, not going to be easy to get these things up but one step at a time. Hard to see the texture in the pic but it's decent and they matched house color perfectly.
