Just picked up a couple of buckets of salinity salt from seachem. Been using D&D H2o for the last 3 years. Was told by Lfs that this was the newest and best salt , wth, I figured might as well give it a try. About the same price as h2o, $60 a small bucket which makes only 120 gals.
Curious as to how many other reefers are using this brand?

I use it and have nothing bad to say. It tests out quite well with bi-weekly water changes and no dosing. It is the priciest stuff at my LFS though.

Sounds good, I just want the best salt as I don't dose that often anymore. Just do 25 gal water change every 2 weeks and leave it at that. ( always used to forget to add the 2 part before, tried dosing pumps, but too complicated)

I've been using it for almost a year now. Bi-weekly water changes. The only issue I have had is low alk consistently (between 5-6), so I do dose this. I was at Pisces this weekend and they had the big bucket at $160.00 on sale for $99.00.

I tried it and ended up using it to melt the ice on my front stairs. I hated it. Mixed cloudy and my corals were annoyed for 3 months afterwards.

I had similar results.
Switched back to reef crystals and things opened up again.

I think it might depend on whether you started with it, or switch from something else. Going from Reefer's Best to this caused my corals to freak. Maybe from scratch, you'd be fine. Worst case, you can use it in winter on the stairs :)

What are you using now? Reefers best again?

Ya, I switched back right away. Actually, I did 2 water changes with the salinity 2 weeks apart. Then went back. It's a bit more money, but I have a lot of coral..

I need to buy some salt, maybe I will try a pail of IO Reef Crystals just to see. My water change system is now done so I suspect I will be doing weekly 50G water changes and will be going through a fair bit of salt.

So 1 50G water change on my 200G tank with Instant Ocean salt (not even Reef Crystals) and my corals look bigger and more open than ever before while using Salinity.

Not just a small difference, a huge difference. I don't get it, zero change in tank parameters.

Price:

Salinity - 225G mixed is $160, $100 on sale

Instant Ocean - 200G mixed is $75, $40 on sale.

Not sure where Reef Crystals falls price wise but I believe it is pretty reasonable.
