Well after setting up my 180, I struggled with what to do with the 55 gl tank. I let it sit running with no fish, still had a couple soft corals and snails. Thought about a predator tank, dwarf lion fish and eel combo, found an eel, but couldn't find a fu man chu. Well the tank was being neglected, fed the eel, but no water changes, and the glass was covered in algae that the mag float couldn't remove.

I was going to sell it, had an ad typed up here on CR, but couldn't post it.

So, I sold the eel, removed all the gravel sand mix from our initial set up, cleaned the tank and started again. The tank sat with no fish for 4 weeks, testing showed no spikes in ammonia, nitrates etc.

The tank is running on a canister filter with carbon and rowaphos, an mp10 and 2 koralia power heads and 2 heaters. No skimmer. For lighting I've got 2x54 watt t5ho and a vertex illuminix fixture.

For corals I've got:
Green octospawn
Torch coral
Green mushrooms
Rhodactis mushrooms
Red mushrooms
Green fuzzy musrooms
Reef wars zoas and palys
Rose bubble tip nem
Kenya trees
Toadstool
And a candy and type coral but not sure of the id

Fish- I had the following...
2 black and white clowns
Coral beauty
3 chromis

Sadly I found 1 clown and coral beauty sucked into power heads over the last couple of days, the other clown and chromis simply disappeared.

Still have 2 chromic and flame back angel (I've named him Buckwheat from alphapha and the gang for those old enough to remember the show...lol)

Standard cuc

Other than the fish losses (which has me pouting) this tank looks much better this time round, my plan is to keep it simple but colorful.

So here's some pics after a couple of months

Just took a look through your post here and it looks very mice - maybe someday I'll get mine looking close to this.

Thank you:lol:! I need a new fts, the nem kept moving so I had to move the mushrooms. I'm loving this tank at the moment, simple setup and easy to maintain.

If your stocking receives as much attention as your build, it's going to be one spectacular tank!
