Well I've been think of starting up a frag tank with a 20g long and Ive got an old coral life 65 skimmer I was going to put live rock on the bottom with egg crate about 4-8 inches above. Is it possible to skim to much as I was going to use my old water for my tank for nutrients as there won't be any fish. It will be mostly sps and some Lps. With no sand bed. Ive also got an old 36" stand any shallow 36" tanks out there?

Can you tie into your main system? ? You'd be fine with your Skimmer but a 20 with rock Wont hold many frags

Nope I can't tie it in. I was going to use my water from my main system. And just use rubble on the bottom.

my 15 gal frag tank has no skimmer and i find my tank is a little too clean for my zoas and lps the start to bleach if i dont feed them regularily , i dont have much for sps but once i started feeding they did get better color too.

I'm gonna be doing mostly sps and maybe some chalice.
So who think reusing my old water will be.ok?

IMO water quality should be good in your fragtank since most are healing from being cut:)
