Are these sans dwellers? I thought at least croccea and maxima are rock dweller and to put them un the sand is to put them under stress?

Nice clams!

You do know that clams will attach themselfs to the rock ,right ??

Putty? you don't glue clam with putty...you let them attach to the rock. I would never glue a clam because if it is not doing well at one spot then it would not be able to move and would surely die.

I put my clam in a specific spot and let it attach or move if it does not like the spot I choose.

i use a little putty til they plant their foot, then I remove it.

But it only takes then a few hours usually if they like the spot to attach.

I wouldnt put on any puddy ,IMO.

I'm actually liking their placement on the bottom. The top down view gives us the best view of their amazing colors. I think I've got enough light to keep them there for a while to see if they like it. ( pair of 250 w MH)
