So now that Harper is in, and conservatives across the country are more united than they've been in decades, what will happen in the next federal election?

Let's use this scenario. Most politicians are lawyers, most lawyers are crooks. Hence the country is run by crooks. I am so sorry they made it impossible for the Rhinocerus Party unable to run delegates.

The Liberals will always win because they are experts at manipulating the public, playing off one ethnic group against another, and giving handouts to friends and special interest groups.

And turning to provincial politics, if the NDP comes to power and raises my family's taxes to 60% of our gross income, we will move to Alberta (not kidding).

I hope that they use Harper to get rid of Martin and then Stronach (sp?) is elected later in a leadership review after Harper eventually messes up.

I voted for the second one.... The liberal will loose alot of seats i feel but not enough to become the opposition :frown: I guess wasting billions of dollars over the last 10 years is perfectly fine to do in ontario/quebec

The Rhino party can't run anymore because the Liberal weenies passed a law that made the cost of running in an election prohibitive, and squeezed the Rhino party out. After having been screwed over by all the major parties, I only vote for the party that can't possibly form a government. I do that because I have learned that I can't complain if I don't vote, so i vote, but make sure the party I vote for has no chance. That is why I liked the Rhinos.

Who are these rhinos you speak of? The only small parties I know of that actually exist is the MJ party, the communists, the marxist-leninists, the natural law party, and the greens.

Bob, are you talking about that law where parties had to have 50 candidates in order to fund-raise properly? It was overturned I think.

this one mimics the rhino party but falls way short. the rhinos were funny but had a real underlining message.

That is a bit dated.

Here is the reality in Canada today

Most politicians are Liberals, most Liberals are crooks. Hence the country is run by crooks.

I don't believe for one moment that the Liberals will get re-elected.
Would anyone admit they are a Liberal?

Unfortunately there is no other "National" party to unseat the Liberals. The Conservatives won't win any seats in Quebec and the Bloc won't win any outside of Quebec and there aren't enough seats available outside of Ontario and Quebec to win an election. Probably not enough to force the Liberals into a minority position. You can thank Mulroney for all this. If he hadn't killed the PC party there would never have been a Gun Registry, Heritage scandal or Sponsorship scandal, etc. The Liberals don't even have to apologize for these and all the Conservatives can hope for is a strong showing in the next election to set up for 5-9 years down the road.

tsk tsk bob, I m very disappointed in you....after all that naggin like a lil skool gurl everytime someone mis-spells things...now this...tsk tsk...j/k

n e wayz, if your gonna vote for a party that has no chance of forming the government, why even waste your time to vote any ways...I know that registering to vote is a good thing because thats how the province gets its money but how much ppl it has, well one way it gets money from the feds n e wayz.. .but I dont see the point in even voting if your gonna vote for some that has no chance of winning.,...just a waste of time to go to voting booth

Why vote? Well, one could argue that if Gore had had 500 more votes in the last US election, the Iraq war wouldn't have happened. I think it's always worthwhile.

well trilene i got bad news for you. You most likely pay well over 60% in taxes here in B.C.. By the time you take federal income tax, provincial tax, G.S.T. (sounds nice doesnt it - not like goods and services TAX) provincial sales tax, property tax, gasoline tax, not to mention garbage levies, water tolls, oh yes highway tolls (including ferries) some municipalities have transit tax(whether you use it or not). If you have children in school there are school "fees" and material use costs, text book "rental' charges - why do we pay school taxes? Business licencing and commercial vehicle tags are a tax on the self employed. Speeding tickets are a tax on the working poor who are just trying to get from point a to point b faster so they can squeeze in more work each day. Don't forget gambling - a voluntary tax (mainly on the poor because they have so little hope.) Okay my last few points were a bit ranty but you get my point. In medival days it was if you grow 100 carrots 10 went to the state and 5 to the church. Hmm a fifteen % flat tax rate. Sounds good don't you think?

I'm fond of the saying, "lotteries are a tax on people who are bad at math." But seriously, you are correct that lotteries validate dreaming for those who probably won't achieve that level of wealth through any other means. Lots of psychology and sociology in that one.
