WTF just happened to me this morning?...

I spent a good number of hours yesterday giving the tank some love and I thought it was looking damn pretty. All happy, I went to bed ready to wake up to a sparkling tank. I got up this morning and fed the tank but realized my anthias was acting funny. He wasn't chowing down like he normally does. I then realize that something wasn't right in the tank... Just didn't feel right.

So I opened the door to the stand and discover that the switch on my switch bar that runs my return pump has failed, the return pump is off, the skimmer is overflowing into the sump and the tank has dropped to 72F! @$% me! Oh,and the high level switch on my ATOis stuck so, you know, it just didn't feel like telling me something was wrong.

So I swapped the pump over to another switch to get things going again and start warming up the tank. As soon as the water starts going over the over flow I hear water running behind the tank. Not one, but TWO of my bulkheads popped loose! @$%# me! Oh, and of course it had to be the two most awkward and inaccessible bulkheads too. So, throw a towel behind the tank, turn off the pump and spend the next 40 mins battling the bulkheads.

With that hopefully under control, I sit down on the couch to take a breather and look over at the tank to discover that basically over night I had an outbreak of valonia algae. Sigh.... @$&% it, I'm going out side...

That's why we have more than one hobby. Glad nothing too serious.

Drink a cold beer and have a left and or right handed cigarette, you need it.

I'm drinking a beer for you right now. It's always 5:00 somewhere.

Also drinking a beer.

Hard to believe you had two bulk heads go. How does that even happen?

Sounds like someone has it out to get you. Sabotage.

Bad luck. Good luck getting it solved and whatnot.

I'm leaning toward gremlins. It's the only logical answer to all of this.

Tank Gremlins seem to be a major cause of tank crashes. The come out at night, loosen fittings, cut tank seems, dump excess kalk into you tank, shut off pumps, trip GFCI's, then go knock over frags and bury them in the sand. After all that they have a cold beer and urinate into your tank to restart a cycle. They're bastards.
