So I got my BRS reactor set up with carbon and GFO running with a MJ1200. It's a little loud. I'd like something substantially quieter.

I'm considering the Eheim Compact 1000 (http://www.jlaquatics.com/product/em-pc1000/Eheim+Compact+Pump+1000.html) or the Sedra KSP-2000 (http://www.jlaquatics.com/product/wp-sd02000/Sedra+KSP-2000+Water+pump.html). I don't know what else is out there I should be looking at.

I'm open to suggestions and opinions based on experience. Above all silence is important. I'd like to be around 300gph (really could be alot less, but this will let me throttle it back.) I'm looking to buy new, but if you have something used, let me know.

Thanks

Try what I might I was never satisfied with mine. I even went down to a MJ 600. After much encouragement to do so, I plumbed a manifold (which actually wasn't all that hard) off my main pump and run both my reactors off it.

hmmm, that is a great idea. My return sump is dead silent, it's already throttled back to reduce flow, all it would be is a 1" T with a 1/2" nipple and increase the flow...

Thanks!

Yup, that's what lots of peeps do. Just make sure you have a shut-off valve somewhere !
I just use the stock valves for flow and shut-off. When I need to service them, I'll just unscrew the lids
