First time I tried pellets I didn't soak them and the clumped up with in a week & a good portion of them would float instead of sink. When you first put the in RO water you will notice some float after the soaking they will all sink.

I give my pellets a quick rinse to clean any dust or impurities.

I have never had a problem. If you are concern just give them a faster tumble for a couple days.

There are so many people having issues with pellets by improperly following the manufactures guide on proper use. If you google search for a guide for use it states to soak overnight.

Reefme, follow manufacture's guide to use to the letter for optimum results.

What size pump are you using?

TLF reactor with mj1200.

Also how much did you put in your reactor? You should start off at 1/4 the recommended amount then gradually increase.

TLF reactor with mj1200.

mj 1200 should work as long as you did not overfill your reactor with pellets

Little below halfway.

Little below halfway.

I've been running my pellets now for 8 months and I still only have my reactor 1/3 full, you might want to start less pellets and that should also help your tumble rate. You may need to soak them a bit longer as well.

One other thing, make sure you did not get any pellets in the tube when you were filling your reactor as that would restrict your water flow as well.

I found that I had to use a bigger pump the a mj 1200 when I was using a TLF reactor. Did you remove the foam & do you have the outlet from your reactor really close to you skimmer intake?

Why is the outlet from a reactor have to be really close to you skimmer intake?

It helps to remove the unwanted crud that the bio pellets remove from the water column.
