So woke up today to find my large birds nest colonie almost bleach white and about 1/3 my acro also took a huge beating. I have not touched anything for a few days and water change isn't due for another 2 days....
The only thing I can think of is my room mate dumped something into the tank. Is there any other reasons besides sabbatoge that a volleyball size colonie would die over night??

temp swing, HW malfunction. Any reason to suspect the roomie?

Can't I have the chiller running no chance of flux in heat. my levels where fine all week haven't had time to check since I noticed

Few reasons he hates how my 200 is always pristine with a decent set up and his little tank keeps crashing repeatedly.
And there was a house fight the other night with sum yelling involved.
But I am hardly around so anything is possible

Guess it's possible. Get him drunk and get him to admit it, then kill him :P

Was there a swing in your alkalinity?

Sps can RTN over night. It happens to everyone. If roomie sabotaged something, I would think all the coral would be involved.

there's been quite an increase in death by aptasia zapper lately.. Almost in plague proportions. OR could be the zombie apocalypse

All my corals are looking like $&"" but haven't lost every thing. I have water running threw the R O now so I can do a water change later today

I had half a large colony RTN overnight on me the other day. Nothing new in the tank, no temp swings, no alk swings. The weirdest thing. Don't kill your roommate until you have to

Already found tem a nice shelf. These things came from 2" frags and grew in this tank so I think it's only fair they get a good resting spot next to the tank

I would take the water to get tested to see if there is a spike in anything (which could be do to an "unexplained" dose).

After the water changes, you may want bite the bullet and cut off the dying parts of the sps the remaining healthy sps to save them.

How high do you keep your alkalinity? High alkalinity and low level of nitrates and phosphates can cause this.

It is a risk to keep alkalinity high. What about copper? have you tested for this? could be in the fish food?

Every spring I notice an increase in posts about SPS death. I suspect pollen.
