I am wondering if anyone uses the SWC UR 120 reactor with bio pellets. I found a website (not the supplier's) that says to remove the foam and plastic plates. Removing the foam and plate from the bottom makes snese to me ... so does removing the foam from the top ... my question is about removing the plate from the top - should I do that as well? I just don't want to do it wrong and then have to fish out biopellets from my sump :)

Thanks!
Mike

I have a TLF 550 reactor, I took out both bottom and top plates out. I found that the flow is much better when I took out the top plate. I have a ball value so I can adjust the flow threw the reactor at start up. No pellets in the sump.

If you don't take out the foams they will plug up causing you nothing but problems. I wouldn't take out the plates but put in a mesh mod like so many others are using. You can find the plastic mesh round pads at Micheals, they are around 4" in diameter & have about 1/8" square holes maybe smaller.
