i have 6500k 10000k and 14000k lights working together just newly set up i was wondering if the 6500k being really bright to our human eyes effect the intensity of the 14000k metal halide light? i was under the impression because i can see the blue its not fully penetrating water? i don't want to remove the 6500k because i like how the tank it really brightly lite up

Is this a reef tank? Anything under 10,000K encourages algal growth. It usually does have more usable light output than say a 20,000K bulb. I'm not sure what you mean about seeing the blue though, that sounds like an idea that wasn't really conveyed to you properly. CORAL Magazine has an article in their Nov/Dec 2011 issue called Blue Light & Corals which discusses the importance of blue light in the formation of more intense coral colors.
