"Newbie question" should I be running an air stone in my Salt water tank? I currently have 2 power heads rippling the surface of the tank water and am using a protein skimmer HOB. I have a glass top covering most of the top, but is open at each end 2" from front to back and is open around the protein skimmer.

Most people don't. It doesn't hurt the tank, but you probably get more than enough oxygen transfer from the surface of the water and a skimmer if you're running one.

No, you don't need it, and the bubbles will give you killer salt build up!

Salt creep - Exactly - with an airstone you will have difficulty seeing through your top glass after a few weeks. The spray from the bubbles bursting will coat the underside of your glass with calcium buildup reducing your light and creating more work for you.
