Hello I am setting up a 65 gallon drilled tank with a 30 gallon sump and would peoples thoughts on protiene skimmers. I was thinking about a Skimzs skimmer just not sure what size to go for. It will be an in the sump skimmer and would like a good skimmer without spending a lot of cash. Any thoughts on what to go for?

I just set up the 160 on a 58 gallon with 30 gallon sump. The small footprint makes life easy.

Hello

Looks like a decent skimmer. Where can you get one for 275? Have you ever had problems with the pump not starting after having it turned off? Read a few reviews online and like everything there are good and bad ones for it out there.

Well

I am still really considering getting the Skimz SM161 Protein Skimmer. Is there anyone out there who has any hands on with one of these units. I would like to hear some first hand Reefer experiences. Still would like to know where to get a SWC 160 for 275.

Have had one for a year. Where I live, we get power outages at least once a month. Mine restarted every time .

Hello thank you for all the info will look into ordering a SWC 160 if the resident skimmer expert says its worth its weight in gold. I just wish the shipping cost to BC was alittle less.

I would agree 100%, I have this skimmer on my tank 60 gallon display and 25 gallon sump. It is very quiet and restarts every time.
